Released on: May 22, 2021

Boston, MA – This week, the members of the Democratic Committee for Ward 4 (parts of the South End, Back Bay and Fenway) endorsed Michelle Wu for Mayor, the first Ward Committee to endorse in the Boston Mayor’s race. They cited her longtime organizing with Ward 4, progressive activism and record of results in the overwhelming vote of support for Wu’s Mayoral bid. Michelle Wu is the former chair of the Ward 4 Democratic Committee and began the tradition of ice cream socials in Titus Sparrow Park.

“I am so proud to have worked alongside the Ward 4 Democratic Committee to affirm bold, progressive, activist leadership at every level in the City of Boston, and honored to be part of our grassroots movement for economic and social justice. Ward 4 will always be special to me, as the committee where I got my start in activism and met so many amazing friends and leaders. I am deeply honored to receive this committee’s endorsement and partnership in this election, and more importantly, to make bold change once in office,” said Michelle Wu.

"The Boston Ward 4 Democratic Committee is proud to endorse Michelle Wu for mayor for her work on climate justice, housing stability, racial equity, and so much more. She helped redefine the role of the Council and will bring a similarly proactive approach to the job of mayor,” said Jonathan Cohn, Chair of the Ward 4 Democratic Committee.

The Ward 4 Democratic Committee’s endorsement adds to the Michelle for Mayor campaign’s enthusiastic coalition of multigenerational, multicultural grassroots supporters including community activists, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Sunrise Boston, labor unions Teamsters Local 25, OPEIU Local 453 and Alliance of Unions at the MBTA, Clerk Michael Donovan, Former Representative Byron Rushing, Senator Julian Cyr,  and fellow municipal elected officials from across Greater Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
